Because of SOMD.COM, I have met an eclectic bunch of folks that have been a joy to know. I found/adopted a 4 yr old mini-schnauzer that became a beloved member of our family, I was able to voice my thoughts in a thread regarding buying puppies that match exactly what we want which lead to me having two new members of the family. Hanging out at Jethros, doing Jello shots from the kids table at BadGirl's, finding the carrots to my peas (Sxyprincess), seeing Neil Diamond in concert at Rendezvous... and then Elvis showed up! So many great memories. Thank you SOMD. Oh... and SOMD radio is the reason I "Have Love... Will Travel"
Don't forget the Clucking of a certain member and the snipe hunts! :lmao:

I got here by doing a search for local fishing. Then I got on the forums. Seems some officer's wife got pinched at the exchange for shoplifting. I was intrigued by her story. She claimed she was set up because her husband was a walk on water officer type. The enlisted MAAs had conspired to ruin her because of their hatred for officers. Enlisted being shifty and pretty much worthless. She was appealing for any similar stories of how O's wives were targetted and anyone else falsely accused of a crime at the NEX.

Well she got her ass lit up hard. I'd go away then log back on. A few more forumites would pile on. Not 1 person took her side. Then she deleted the text of her original post. Sadly nobody used the copy feature. What got me was the whole nature of forums as a sounding board. And complete strangers add to the conversation.

After a day or 2 I logged back on. ANd this time the entire post had disappeared. Seems Mrs. LT's wife got forum 3rd degree burns and promised their next born if the powers to be would put her out of her misery and delete the entire thread. POOF. It was gone to the giant bit bucket in the sky.

Then I'd get on occasionally for giggles and grins. Now here I am 11 years later the official chauffeur for the SOMD mobile office. It doesn't pay anything but the perks are pretty sweet.

I remember that tread! :lmao:

I found SOMD by searching for things to do in the local area and soon after discovered the forums. That was back in 2000, back when the forums were still the funky thread chains, or something like that. I remember the first time I was "spotted" by a forum member. He (Stillcrazy) snuck past me at work and whispered... RoseRed… :yikes: :lmao:

I got here looking for info when Anita got the job offer at NAVAIR in early 2012
Kept coming back as several of the regulars are folks whose words I look forward to reading
Am also happy for the ignore function, 1st one I can recall doing that to was JCP.

Congratulations, and many more years, too!!!

I found this place in 96 and the topics that got out of hand were always the best.

Even then!?! :jet:

There were so many... the animal nutters, the horsie nutters, the circus nutters, the Bucky, Shane & RayRay tread (one of which I knew)

It seems like the cray-cray local gossip has moved to the book of faces and the comments section of that other local site.
