I will be in L.A. But this would be a fun thing to document with video...hahaha.
Fantastic idea...I'll throw in a few lenses to the winner as well. This should be cool.

Has anyone read or heard of the book by Jim Brandenburg, "Chased by the light"...he gave himself 90 days in the fall to shoot ONE image a day...that's it. No cheating...he had to pass a lot of things up hoping he would land a better image later in the day...maybe. He tripped the shutter once a day...it's an incredible book...a must have.

FUN!

Didn't want to clog up the other thread!

For all of you that may have to work, or do a Spaghetti Dinner, take you camera with you if at all possible. There are things on the list that you may still be able to get while you are working or whatever else. Just carry your camera with you Saturday and Sunday and see what happens.

Its is 98% about the fun, and just 2% about the prizes!!!

One of the hopes is that everyone looks through the others peoples submissions and finds a few things that they never thought of going out and taking pictures of in the past. Some times good inspiration comes from others.

Yes! As a long time subscriber to National Geographic, I'm very familiar with his work as he shot for the magazine for many years and won a plethora of awards. He has captured some incredible images in his career.

If you want to see the images in his book, go to his web site:

The Photography of Jim Brandenburg

and click on 'Gallery' then 'Chased by the Light'. Start on 'day 1' and scroll through the images. Most worthwhile. :yay:

are you giving us any hints on this list? places / things ? the weather maybe a factor this weekend

Nope no hints. The list will come out Friday night and I think that will give you all plenty of time. Its not really theat big of a list. If we decide to give any hints, it would be Saturday night.

The countdown is on, about 12 hours until you all get the list!!!

A few last minute tips, if I may:

Start charging your batteries or get a new set ready.

Put your camera in its case and into you car a couple hours before you go out to shot. It will be chilly out tomorrow and if you take your camera from your nice warm house or car out into the cool air, the thing will fog up. Try to get it slowly accumulated to the temp. you will be shootting at, and if its in a case it will cool down slower.

Grab a map, or print out a google map for places your not sure how to get to.

Print a copy or two of the list to take with you!

Dress warm!

Some more info re:cold weather and cameras...

If you do put your camera out in your car for a long time keep the batteries OUT. Cold drains batteries. If your batteries appear empty faster than normal and you think they're cold take them out and place them in an pocket near your body (like pants, not jacket). When it's warm put it back in and you should have some more battery life.

You camera can get a lot of condensation when moving from a cold environment into a warm one. You can combat this by placing dry silica gel sachets in your camera bag. You can also use large plastic bags around you camera to help prevent the condensation. If you do not do something to prevent condensation be sure to leave your camera OFF until it's reached ambient temperature.

Looking at the list of participants, there are quite a few I'd like to meet. Stop by the Hole in the Wall, Sunday evening (Yahoo! Maps, Driving Directions, and Traffic)and say HI!, if you're still out and about. I'm not hard to find, I'll be up front with the microphone.:larry:

Thanks for the invite Tom!

Danzig and I are in for meeting up with anyone else that is game Sunday evening at the Hole in the wall. We will bring laptops and card readers so we can all share pics over a beer! WHo knows you may even get a few extra points if you show up and say Hello.
