SOMD Fantasy NASCAR 2012

If you have any rule suggestions, proposed changes or anything, let me know..

Here are my proposed changes -- instead of 5 points each and a 25 point bonus:

5 points if the driver you pick to win does win. 1 point for each driver you pick that finishes in the top five (or, in the Chase, top seven). This places even more emphasis on winning.

The ten pick thing for Daytona/Talladega is gone. I'm done with my protest since it doesn't matter and this crappy Noah's Ark racing is here to stay.

Again, these are just suggestions and I want to hear how everyone feels about them.

Now, my questions:

How does everyone feel about just calling it an end and crowing a champion after the Atlanta Labor Day or Richmond fall race since very few people stick around for the long haul and even fewer people actually watch NASCAR during football season?

I have NO problem with the point valve change . I think it makes it simplier to add and a lower point total . As for the Championship , it appears that the Chase doesn't exsist , if you want to crown a "Champion" after 26 races instead of 36 . Personally I don't agree , but I'll abide with your change .

It's not a permanent change, just a suggestion.

Only thing I DID like was getting first place points at the ArknDove races if your pick for first place came in first or second. I think you should get first place points at those races if your first and/or second place drivers come in first or second.

As much as I'd like to see Jr win a championship, I have a feeling he's gonna have an up and down season again, and wind up falling out of the chase; or otherwise missing the #1 spot.

With regard to the point system; just make it a round number per position:

first place: 4300; 43rd place 100; 100 pts. for most laps led during a race.

I heard more people whine about it -- but you know how it is, people don't speak up when they do like something.

The points system makes more sense and could tighten things up.

I'm talking about the season opener at Southern National.

Bristol sucks. Bruton Smith destroyed that track when he changed it from a real short track to a half mile version of California.

Martinsville is the only real racetrack NASCAR races at anymore.

And if NASCAR ever "improves" Martinsville, I will riot. Any time NASCAR tries to "improve" or "reconfigure" a track, they usually take a good product and turn it in to a snorefest.

Actually, let's not even talk about that. Don't want to give Dumb Ass (Brian France) any ideas.

Bristol was just fine, there was no need to "reconfigure" it so the drivers liked it. Generally speaking, I've learned the following universal truths:

1) You will never meet a racecar driver that's caused an accident in his/her racing career.
2) If the drivers like a racetrack and think it's a "fun" track to race on, you will probably pass out on your recliner.
3) If you have a famous last name, you'll get a top-tier ride regardless of your driving abilities.

Now, once Uncle Sam deposits my tax return in to my checking account, I'll be excited for Richmond when I book those tickets I've been trying to get for six damn years.

Spring. The fall race is in September -- I never make plans that far ahead.

Hopefully I can get a hot pass. If that comes through and NASCAR approves it, Jimmie Johnson will be my new favorite driver for the rest of my life.
