Maybe the person who hit it thought it was a possum and didn't feel the need to stop.

That was my first thought. A dog that small could be mistaken for a rodent running across the street.

When my dog was hit, it was very rare for him to roam. We have no clue why he even roamed that day, and we lived on a road where people went 50-60 MPH all the time, and it was a fricken neighborhood.

I live on a lot way back on an old farm. My cousins (neighbors) have Guineakeets (sp) - they're like chickens - that wander all over the old farm.

Apparently, when the pooch goes out to do his business, he chases them - when they're on my lot. My cousin thought he was a fox and almost shot him yesterday! We have occasional trouble with foxes killing the Guineakeets...

We watch from indoors usually - through the window. So the girls don't get chased! Those keets/hens will chase you if you run from them! But if you chase them - they run like he!! :lmao:

Lastnight around 7:45 somebody ran over our beloved dachshund Shiloh on Cedar Ln in Dameron. They never stopped. So the poor dog didn't have a chance. He was at the end of my drive way. So if anyone reading this knows anything about this. Or if your the one who done it. I hope that you don't lose anything that you really love. Then you'll know how I feel. If you had a heart or any feelings you would of atleast had the BALLS to stop and say something. But i guess your a coward. This dog never hurt anyone he loved everyone. I will miss his little legs running around and his fantastic personallity. I hope no one else goes through what I'm going through right now.

You live on Cedar Lane in Dameron? I'm there every afternoon to pick up my son. Who lives all the way at the end now? (And I hope it's not you) because they drive like maniacs if it's the same college bunch. I'm sorry for your loss. We have a dog that's older and doesn't hear very well, he wanders in front of everything. That's really a shame, I don't think I've ever seen any dead domestic animals on that road which leads me to believe it was recklessness.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your dog- he's in a better place now.

Lessons Learned from this Tragedy:

1. People suck.

2. Closely monitered and leashed pup may have prevented it, along with a fenced in yard.

3. Don't think it'll never happen to you.

4. Accidents happen, but that's no excuse for fleeing the scene.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss, it's #2 on my biggest fears for my dogs, #1 being losing them to a house fire.

What a super-bummer. I can't imagine what we would do without my big wet nose in my avatar.
