Just sneakin' around....
We? Are you talking about military coms? I'm talking about civilian residential service at Grandpa's house. Oops, I meant CraigV814's house.

Not special or govt comms, all just over-the-counter generic phone company supplied lines and devices.

"we" as in my org and small comm group.

No Sir.

Not over a true FX. No way, no how, no matter what anyone wants to argue. I've even appeared at PSC hearings as an expert witness on this matter.

BTW, how could you connect to something that did not exist until 1991?
  • 1991: The WWW software was released, including a line-mode browser, web server software, and a library for developers. The first website was launched on August 6, 1991, and it contained information about the WWW project.

Ahh, a hijacked thread.
Back on Topic, any bets the Von-Goetz is a registered Dem? The lunacy of Maryland as a whole gives me good odds! 🤣

Who said anything about WWW? It was a direct synchronous connection for a HASP RJE (remote job entry) station. Punch card reader, printer, etc..

A nineteenth-century Jewish folktale tells of a man who went about town slandering the rabbi. One day, realizing that many of the things he had said were unfair, he went to the rabbi’s house and begged for forgiveness. The rabbi told the man that he would forgive him on one condition: that he go home, take a feather pillow from his house, cut it up, and scatter the feathers to the wind. After he had done so, he should then return to the rabbi’s house. Though puzzled by the rabbi’s strange request, the man was happy to be let off with so easy a penance. He quickly cut up the pillow, scattered the feathers, and returned to the rabbi. “Am I now forgiven?” he asked. “Just one more thing,” the rabbi said. “Go now and gather up all the [disbursed] feathers.” “But that’s impossible. The wind has already scattered them.” “Precisely,” the rabbi answered. “And though you truly wish to correct the evil you have done, it is as impossible to repair the damage done by your words as it is to recover the feathers.”

I heard a lady on the local radio station, say that this man recently lost his wife and had been sober for 25 yrs .... I guess he went on a bender but maybe also manic depressive ... people with manic depression decide they don't need their meds and stop taking them -- then do crazy stuff

Hopefully he will get the help he needs

It may very well be an Amish name. Goetz is a name that originated in Southern and Southwestern Germany where many Amish also originated.
While not real common it is a name that is spread out somewhat in my part of NWPA.
The defendant's other name, Bowling, is one of the most distinguished surnames around La Plata/ Dentsville/ Newburg. The various Bowlings include a current Charles county commissioner and Farm Bureau President - the mother of another recent County commissioner - the retired school principal of Chopticon HS - the late owner of Hughesville Bargain Barn, who was also a Board member of SMECO utility - the founder of the local sons of confederate veterans - the President of the National Grain growers association - and the retired department chair of speech and dramatics at Geo. Wash. University (all of them current or former Charles County residents).

Also, Bernhard Goetz was the famous N.Y. subway shooter acquitted of shooting 2 riders at night who were harassing him for money. The jury ruled that he acted in self-defense.

Im a recovering "855er".... Came here in '88, but if you told people you are an 855er you faced scorn....

(855 was a new phone exchange for northern Calvertians)

BUT having said that, in my retired after career, I was a bailiff in Leonardtown a few months...... Is the water tainted with rocket fuel down there?
I live in Calvert, but my exchange is 301 from when we lived in Piney Point, near the old Oakwood Lodge.

They say in AA that if you take a drink after being sober, the affects are such that it's like you never stopped drinking.

That alone is enough to have kept me sober for 35 years. Even after losing my wife.

In light of the last couple of decades, it makes you wonder what kind of trial he'd get today.

I bet I know.
