But how long does that last once the subsidy sugar high wears off? And the unions start cranking up the wages and benefits demand and striking until you find out why the jobs left in the first place?
Can't wait to see the price increases when the UPS contract kicks in. Thank the teamsters union for those

They wont be happy until they destroy the transition, for US makers anyway. Because you need far fewer workers to make EVs and fewer workers means less dues money to buy politicians with. The industry will be, or is faced now with, the choice of going under now due to strikes, or going under later as they are forced to have twice as many workers as they need to do the job.

One of the ' requirements ' or demands from Her Biden, EV's produced by UNION LABOR

The above is the mantra. "Good paying union jobs". As if good paying jobs cant be had any other way. There are tens, if not hundreds of thousands of jobs building cars and parts for them all across the country that are not union jobs. Even one company doing it with EVs in Commiefonia fercrissakes.

Now, not all unions are parasites, some do act as symbiotes with industry, ensuring quality workers and understanding that symbiotes ensure the survival of the host, while parasites kill the host. But the UAW is NOT one of them, nor has it been for a long time.

Ford lost $2 Billion dollars in 2022 with their EV's and so far this year another $4.5 Billion dollars.
Nothing like building cars no one wants.

Shame that doesn't include the railroad unions.

So, lets no confuse how much they are laying out to build the machines to build the machines with losses per vehicle. A lot of that 2 billion and 4 billion is a "one time" cost to build the new factories and such. Same thing people said about Telsa for years. "They are losing billions!!!" when in fact they were spending billions to build new factories. Once they had three factories in production, the money coming in was greater than the spend on new factories. They always made money on each car, they just kept investing in more capacity and new product development

I don't think Ford is making money on each vehicle yet, though. They have hard lessons to learn about EV and battery production and vertical integration. But people want the cars, just not at the price Fords antiquated production methods require them to sell at. The Mach-E and Lightning are popular, but the Mach E gets no subsidy so it effectively costs $7500 more than an equivalent Tesla. And the amount of batteries the inefficient Lightning costs means they have to ask a lot more money for it.

My paternal grandfather was a Teamsters organizer for 30 years. The Local took great care of he and gramma after grampa retired.
In his latter days, came to very much distrust the International, said the Union bosses had gotten as bad as the owners and Politicians.

In his latter days, came to very much distrust the International,

My exfil was a life long Teamster ... he was very bitter of how his grievance was handled by the local

He wasn't called back after a strike ... he had made a bit of a thorn in the side of Maloney Concrete Management - they were always trying to cut corners in Truck Maintenance ..

anyway the UNION Lawyers let stand some mischaracterizations about his work or ethics ... during the hearings that ultimately ended the case in Richmond ...

The NRLB said ... looking at the mischaracterization .... well here is a valid reason for not calling my ExFIL back. Case Dismissed

We still did do some work for them ... I was making $ 9.75 hr in 1984 unloading tractor trailers at the DC Convention Center and the Sheridan Woodly Park right out of high school

Damn, the progenitor of the bird I spent almost 5,000 hours in. I got to fly in one of these operated by Reeves Aleutian Airline back in 85. Took it from Adak out to Shemya then back to Anchorage to go home for Dads funeral.

The Electra got off to a really bad start but once perfected it was a great bird. My bird had a bad prop in Cecil Field I think, no tools and certainly no prop so I caught a ride on a P3 out of Andrews. Cool flight comparing it to our Cv 580. same engine just twice as many. Higher and probably 50 kts faster.

P-3s just officially sundowned in Jax, although a few strays still fly Navy. Of course CBP and NOAA have no plans that I know of to get rid of them and they are an FMS mainstay. Bird took me all over the world. From Bahia Blanca in Argentina to north of the Arctic Circle and around the globe once.

There are thousands, No Millions, of poor deluded people just like her.------------and they vote.

I sit in wonder at people who can watch this man stumbling around, mumbling, led around by people after a speech because he cannot find his way off stage, Hiding in Rehobeth Beach, or Camp David and afraid to give a press conference listening to his Doctor who calls him a vibrant 80 year old. What is blinding them? Is it denial or are they all mentally ill. I don't know , but these are the people who got us into this mess. poor deluded sheep.
Yes.
