I didn't read it as them blaming anyone just providing a possibly useful link for those that might need help.

Wait 'til that person reads this thread. :jet:

Agreed, but I can also understand why turtle would be quick to take offense at the possible presumption that this suicide could have been prevented by intervention. Turtle's post sounds like it was written to console family/friends that are probably blaming themselves for not "doing enough" for the jumper.

But how the hell can you find any blame in what was posted, it was simply informational, at least in my mind? I doubt if anyone blames any of the family for what this person did. Hell, who knows or how are you to know unless there is very clear evidence when someone is going to go whacko and kill themself?

I don't have any sympathy for the jumper at all. Suicide is taking the easy way out. Now the family is stuck dealing with all of the problems the jumper didn't want to deal with.

I don't find any blame in what was posted by thebaynet, but I'm also not sitting here pizzed as hell and hurting because someone I love took the easy way out. Turtle's post is full of hurt and anger.

on the brooklyn bridge
he was cockeyed
an' stood on the edge
there was a priest talkin' to him
i was shiftin' myself around
so i could see from all sides
in an' out of stretched necks
an' things
cops held people back
the lady in back of me
burst into my groin
"sick sick some are so sick"
like a circus trapeze act
"oh i hope he don't do it"
he was on the other side of the railin'
both eyes fiery wide
wet with sweat
the mouth of a shark
rolled up soiled sleeves
his arms were thick an' tattooed
an' he wore a silver watch
i could tell at a glance
he was uselessly lonely
i couldn't stay an' look at him
i couldn't stay an' look at him
because i suddenly realized that
deep in my heart
i really wanted
t' see him jump

That is understandable, but shouldn't that hurt and anger be directed at the source?

In a perfect world. People in pain often lash out at the wrong person/persons. Especially if they have no one to blame.

Exactly. I read turtle's post to be a spontaneous burst of pain and anger triggered by the thought of someone thinking the death could have been prevented by a simple phone call to a hotline.
