I've never eaten at a Sonic. Is it really that good?

It's good, but not THAT good. I think the appeal is that since there isn't one nearby, it's a treat to get to eat there. I used to demand that we stop at Sonic every time we drove through Gloucester. Now I live about 5 blocks from one and have only been there once since we moved here (Sweetheart Brownie Blast, now that's yummy!).

In terms of food quality, I'd say it's a cut above the other fast food places, but not as good as dedicated burger joints like Five Guys and In 'n Out.

Its main appeal for me is the variety; as I posted earlier, it's a good place to go when you're not sure what you want.

The food is good, but the real appeal is the sheer variety of menu items. Burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, slushes, cream pie shakes, not to mention the fantastic cherry-limeade. If you want chili on your salad, they'll hook you up. Bacon and jalapenos on your chicken wrap? Not a problem.

Everything is served all day - none of this "We stopped serving breakfast at 10:30" crap. If you want a sausage-egg Toaster at 9pm, you can have it. If you want a Coney and chili-cheese tots for breakfast, it's yours.

Plus you pull into your parking space and order off the speaker menu, then a kid on roller skates (most of the time) brings you your food. It's very cool and retro.

Sonic rocks :yay:

Heh - I haven't seen any Sonic commercials since I've been back, but in Az, they were on all the time. And one of their commercials had this guy and his gf/wife/whatever in the car with him, and he's raving about his salad which is topped with the "meat based dressing".

His wife is like, "What?" and he says: "It's a great 'meat based dressing'".

"You mean the chili?"

It was funny.
