Souther MD construction nightmare

Sxy,

Where do you live and work to get an hour and 15 minute commute home? Do you ride Keller Bus? Maybe in the mornings (5:35 a.m. @ Mattawoman/Beantown) for me, it is an hour and a half, but in the evenings it is usually a two hour ride home (5:25 p.m. @ 19th & K to Charlotte Hall). You must have one of those fast drivers....

Last Thursday and Friday were horrible, as it took me close to 3 hours to get home those evenings. Thursday was due to alot of accidents....Pennsylvania Avenue was blocked off, and Friday figured it must have been holiday shoppers.

Hopefully we won't see an ice storm like 6 or 7 years ago....took me 6 hours to get home that evening.:cussing:

Sorry about that chief.
On Keller it takes me an hour and a half in the AM (5:00) and 2 - 2 and a half at night (3:00). With 2 little ones the most sleep I get is on the bus.

Mannnn, that is a LONG commute! I guess no matter how bad we think we have it at times, there is always someone who 'has it' worse!

JLabsher,

That is exactly how I feel, though I don't have children....I always look for a seat all the way in the back and corner to get some sleep (average 5 hours at night) to get away from the elbow nudgers and newspaper flappers/eye-awakening reading lights!

Lately, it hasn't been too bad to find a seat by myself to get some rest, but once in a while it gets crowded.

7-1/2 more years and counting down!!

I live in Bryantown (sometimes La Plata) and I work in NE, across from CU. I leave Waldorf (after my daughter is dropped off at school) at about 8 in the morning. I'm usually to work by 9-9:15.

In the evenings I leave work at 5 pm and I am usually in Waldorf by 6:15. I then of course have to pick up my daughter, so in terms, I'm home by 6:30-6:45.

I don't ride the Keller bus and never have. I've got free parking in a fairly nice area. Plus, I like to travel out for lunch.

That is the only thing that I miss about driving in. Another downside is office parties and having to bring packages and/or food in to work...that is a bummer! Other than those two things, it is more beneficial for me to take the bus. I always appreciate the women with small children though, as I don't know how some of the women taking the bus manage.

After almost falling asleep at the wheel a couple of times :frown:, I decided I'd better leave the driving to someone else.

A 20 minute commute isn't bad but when you live 5 minutes away and you sit at a light for 20 minutes and it takes you 45 to get to work is bad. I can get there between 5-7 minutes everyday including lights before all this construction crap. I just wish they would do it at night.
jenesien,Sorry, you are talking about minutes. I am thinking of hours. I would complain if I get to work two hours late because of one or two different car accidents on the way to work.

I agree with you, I have to remind myself that I knew few people who does 3-4 hrs commute to D.C. from PA or WV so I don't complain that much :biggrin:
