I'm not trying to repeat threads, but there are such mixed reviews. I'd like to join, since Lou is doing so well, so I thought I'd get some fresh opinions...chime in anyone!

It is a good way to get a chance to ride at farms that are not usually available to the public. Also, if your new to riding in the area you'll find your way through the public parks (we didn't know for a year about the other side of the road at Greenwell!)

I can't wait to start riding with a group. Lou did really well when we rode together at Appy's.

....and.....drum roll please......I've been doing a lot of free lunging, today, Lou got his ass moving along at a FULL CANTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tail up and all, slows and walks as soon as I ask, whoa's and then comes to me. We walked all the way back to the barn from the arena w/ no lead rope, stood perfectly while we got his treats from the tack room and then went right into his stall. I LOVE THIS ANIMAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Belgium and I are going to try to get into shape to make a ride or two. :lmao: At the risk of being snubbed by all these beautiful new horses. :howdy: It's been many a year for both of us but I think we've still got a little left to give. :flowers:

All this horse talk and I had to go see the boy. Wed. is workout day, so I thought it would be good to let him play a little tonight. He's so funny...up and down the arena from mirror to mirror...it's almost embarrassing now. Comes like a giant dog when you call him, but he'll stand and admire his charming good looks as long as you let him!!! :lmao:

Let's make 2006 the year we connect and network!

Members of the Tuckahoe Equestrian Center, Southern Maryland Trail Riders,
TROT, Plantation Walking Horses of Maryland, and the Chesapeake Plantation
Walking Horse clubs, are invited to participate in this event at the League
of Maryland Horsemen.

If your membership renewal form is sitting on your desk, the opportunity to
participate in this special weekend is a great reason to pull out your
checkbook, lick some stamps, and make a trip to the mail box.

There will be a demonstration of "horse camping" at the League at 7 pm on
Wednesday April 5th before the Trails and Greenways meeting for anyone who
is interested in learning how to safely camp with your horse. You can check
out the driving directions, scope out the campsites, and meet your weekend
hosts in advance.

There are 170 miles of trails in Patapsco State Park - you can ride to an
old granite quarry, tie your horse to a tree and have lunch at restaurant in
Sykesville, hitch your horse to a rail outside the Woodstock Inn and have a
crab cake sandwich, ride the fire trails around Liberty Reservoir, travel to
the old town of Daniels, and visit an old Nike missile site that was filmed
in the Blair Witch Project movie. Some of the trails are rocky and you will
want front shoes unless your horse has very hard feet. Most trail rides
cross the Patapsco River several times, and include some steep slopes that
will challenge you and your horse.

So buddy up, team up, give someone a ride in your trailer, share the sofa in
your camper, and do what you need to do to join us. Hope to see lots of you
there!

Horse Poor
I have ridden up at the league and it's a very nice place to ride. The only thing I hate about going up to the League for rides is the trailer parking. It gets SO cramped when they have a function going on. I like going to different places to ride. Can't wait for spring first trip will probably be Graves Mnt. Then Fort Valley. Anyone wanna come? I like Graves No reservations needed, always parking availible and great riding. Anyone riding this weekend?
