I really enjoyed Mesa Verde in the four corners region. Cliff dwellings .
We visited the cliff dwellings just outside of Flagstaff last year at Walnut Creek National Monument. Hiked down to see them. Amazing when you think people lived there, yet they had to daily hike down to the canyon valley to fetch water then lug it back up to their abodes. We had the benefit of steps and a trail. The Natives had none of that plus their water bottle was probably some animal skin that was hand stitched.

Most likely the bags were animal bladders and stomachs with one entrance or exit closed off .
