See, some people do consider life past their own lifespan. Not giving a sh^% about what happens past your lifespan leaves a lot on the table. I want my grandkids and great great grandkids to live in a world of peace and plenty, not one where you take your govt assigned plot to grow what you eat and %5 extra for the infirm. It's not "science fiction", it's the future, and it's going to happen. I want the race to live and grow for a very long time. I want knowledge to expand, and things to be learned.
any of this nations Founders could have lived their own lifespans in peace and contentment, they were rich landowners, paying a few extra pounds of tax wouldn't have killed them. They thought for the future, quite a long one. One they couldn't imagine, and it's a pretty good thing they did. I like that sort of thinking.
