Two words that should never EVER be in the same sentence, let alone in the same recipe.

I didn't think I could consider anything more vile than deep-fried Oreos, but I was wrong. :twitch:

Where the heck did SpaghettiOs pizza (with meatballs) come from? What sick mind would birth this idea?

Remember Hurricane Irene? While it turned out to be serious business for too many people, in NYC, where I live, it turned out to be a bit comical. People taped up windows, filled bathtubs with water, wrapped tinfoil around their heads. But one of the more interesting observations my wife and I made was that New Yorkers seemed to be using the incoming storm as one giant excuse to stock up on guilty-pleasure foods and take a vacation from sensible eating.

Ahead of my wife in line at our local supermarket was a woman buying pints and pints of Ciao Bella gelato and bags of pre-popped popcorn. And we used the opportunity to revert to childhood by grabbing a few cans of SpaghettiOs.

I thought everybody did that.

I do too, but sometimes I also end up with things that I really wouldn't want to eat if I didn't have to - like canned chicken

I know friends use it in their chicken spaghetti, but I prefer cooked chicken breast

Oh BadGirl loves her some canned chicken. Why, she makes the best chicken salad with it. Mmmmm mmmmmm!

:ducksandruns:

I always have leftovers frozen up meal-size in the freezer, then can heat them up on the grill or in the fireplace if the power goes out for too long. My junk foods that I stock up on but normally don't keep around are hot chocolate, cookies, and crap like that.

I'm terrible about freezing leftovers. My friends used to tease me about my earthquake/tornado stash. They said it looked like I was going camping

That reminds me

I saw some kind of canned sausage in Wal Mart Yuck!

Don't forget SPAM. You can fry it,, eat it on crackers with or without cheese, spam and eggs, spam fried rice, fried spam, spam sandwiches. It was a basic in my house when i was growing up, still eat some occasionally. It is your basic survival food.

Kinda reminiscent of Bubba Gump: shrimp sammich, shrimp gumbo, shrimp grits, shrimp salad......I agree, it is a survival food everywhere except Hawaii....they pay a lot of money for a can of spam

I didn't include spam (always included in the emergency stash) in my post because we actually eat that at other times. Spam kabobs are damn good too

I was kinda thinking of the Bubba Gump thing and the Monty Python Spam thing.
