Little Miss Too Big For Her Britches not only dropped the eff-bomb on me the other day in casual conversation BUT she informed Larry yesterday (because she wants me to find out but doesn't quite dare tell me herself) that she's taking up smoking. :burning:

If she were self-supporting, she could smoke until her face falls off and I wouldn't say a word to her. As it stands, she exists solely on my largesse and I'll be a sunny bean if she's going to be spending MY money on cigarettes.

But I'm flattered that she's acting out - it's a sign that she needs her Mommy to bundle her :huggy:

Perhaps she is only smoking other people's cigarettes. When I smoked there were a lot of them around.

Good for you, vrai! Keep her on her toes!

My 21 year old still refuses to admit to me she smokes - and she doesn't even live in my house!

And she's always pleading poverty... :nomoney:

My sister is 37 and my parents don't know she smokes! :otter:

No, she was very clear that she bought a pack of cigarettes. She knows that I have a hands-off attitude (for the most part) now that she's 18 and in college and there's nothing I can really do about it anyway. So she also knows that if she told Larry she bummed a smoke off someone, I'd grit my teeth and not say anything.

She sent her message - she wants her Mommy.

Use the one pack rule........after she eats a pack, she can smoke all she wants. :yay:

The ex's parents tried both that and making his little sister smoke an entire pack. Neither worked. She smokes.

The youngest however has never touched one which is amazing because both the parents and older siblings smoke.

And how will mommy be handling this...
Larry told me at dinner and she had a show last night. So I left a message on her VM that she is NOT to smoke and that if she were self-supporting she could smoke until her face falls off but that I'll be a sunny bean if I'll pay for her to take up smoking (pretty much my second paragraph above).

I also told her that she is NOT to drop the eff bomb on me, that I don't talk that way to her and I don't expect her to talk that way to me, especially since I'm footing the bill for all this nonsense.

Then I told her that I will be happy to come up there and smack her ass for her, but that if she wanted to see me she didn't have to resort to this - she could have simply said, "Mommy, I miss you and want you to come visit me."

She'll avoid me today, then call tomorrow.

Vrai,

I'm curious as to why you don't want her smoking. Is it because she's spending your money, maybe health reasons? What if she gets a part-time job and pays for her smokes, will you allow it then?

ooooooh let me take a crack at this while Vrai it busy typing away on her rebuttle...

IMO, she is still a dependent of her parents. Parents are footing the bill and providing what she needs to live comfortably with a roof over her head and food in her belly. Even if she got a part time job, that wouldn't change this. I think it's stupid and a total waste of money on chickie's part to start such a losing and expensive habit which will likely end up with her addicted and regretting it at some point in life. I think Vrai has a right to be bent on her starting such a useless, senseless addiction on her dime and time...

I can totally understand that part. However, if she has a job, she's an adult and able to buy cigarettes legally.

There's no "allowing" - she's 18 and doesn't live at home anymore. My son smokes and I have no problem with it - but he's 22 years old and self-supporting. He doesn't call me for money every month. So, yes, it's that it's my money she's spending, but it's more than that.

She tried this when she first got to school and got her fake ID - I didn't say a word. She calls specifically to tell me that she ate Oreos for breakfast - I say, well, you didn't get up until noon so that's a safe Oreo timeframe. She told her little sister (who she knows tells me everything) that she got a...um...piercing that is not visible when one is wearing clothing - I didn't bring it up to her.

So what she's really saying with this latest episode is, "Mommy, I'm scared in the big city. Nobody here loves me and cares about me. Please tell me that you're there and that I'm still your little Tootie-cake."

Ahhhh...it's nice to be needed.

Nope... you can't have it both ways, missy... this is no different then you getting bent that TWL and Tigg spend their money on DSL, eating out, Blockbusters and such rather then the necessities... TWL and Tigg could use the same argument that they only use the money they make at Papa John's on the frivolous stuff and all the handouts given by the state, family and friends goes towards the necessities... same case, just a different scenerio. As long as her daughter is dependent on Vrai and Larry... Vrai and Larry have a right to get bent.

Thank you! :yay:

Personally you can't call home wanting money when you are spending $5 every couple of days for cigarettes. It is one thing if she hadn't told them she smoked, but she did so she has to deal with it. If she chooses to spend her money that is for food and necessities for ciggys then let her learn the hard way how to prioritize money.
