Spider scare turns nasty for model-turned-actress Kate Neilson | News.com.au
ACTRESS Kate Neilson has been badly injured after being dragged by a moving car while trying to escape a spider.
Neilson, a former model who has a role in The Killer Elite opposite Robert De Niro, was dragged 30 metres after being spooked by a Huntsman.
She was driving when her friend, a passenger, saw the spider on the driver's side window.
A panicked Neilson pulled the vehicle over, but accidentally knocked the gearstick in reverse while clambering over her friend.
She got caught under the passenger side door as the car drove backwards.
"I was dragged up the road on my back. It was agony,'' the former girlfriend of AFL bad boy, Wayne Carey, said.
Her friend chased the car for 30 metres and put on the handbrake.
The incident happened at midnight last Tuesday on Normanby Rd, Port Melbourne.
"I was always taught, growing up, that a spider is more scared than you,'' Neilson said. "But I'm a big scaredy cat. Until you're that close to a spider, you don't know what you'll do.''
She was thankful the incident happened on an empty road late at night.
Meanwhile, The Killer Elite will open in Australia late February, before she flies to LA to meet with casting agents.
She is the second celebrity to be involved in a spider-related tussle in two days.
