We have those things at my house too. We've always called them zipper spiders because it looks like they have a zipper in the middle of their web when they are done. They also die quickly around here too!!! I hate 'em!!!!!!!!!!!! Death to all spiders!!!!!!

(I know, I know - we'd be overrun by bugs.... I just hate spiders!)

Ok, so I spray pretty regularly for bugs, but I am still being overrun with spiders. /UntitledAlbum?feat=directlink]Picasa Web Albums - Hodr2k - Untitled Album[/url]

I have found that keeping exterior lights off will help significantly. Light draws bugs, moths etc. Spiders will appear when they get the large collection of food hanging around your doors etc.

Get motion sensing lights that go on and off for short periods of time. This will help with some spider control.

Any spider, do not care what size it is, will die if it comes in my house. Hate them with a passion. I would rather have 10 snakes crawl on me then a spider get anywhere near me. I get goosebumps just thinking about them. Had a huge spider on my deck last year. I sprayed it and babies took off everywhere. I freaked!!!! Turns my stomach just thinking about it.

I think this may have been what it was. And I live in an apartment on a solid concrete foundation, however I am on ground level.

The thing crawled up on me while I was sleeping, so it thats generally where I draw the line as to live and let live. Had a scorpion crawl on me back in Arizona and I wasn't nearly as freaked out as I was by this guy.

After seeing the suggestion of fishing spider I looked it up. And the picture I found at Fishing Spider looks exactly like the spider (especially the striped legs), only smaller. So, mystery solved.

Went to corner critters once. Was in the back room looking at the snakes and came face to face with a bird eating spider. I have never seen a spider so big in my life. Bout broke my neck getting out of there. Probably never would have noticed it if my loving husband had not pointed it out to me.

The average person swallows 5 spiders a year in their sleep. Do you have any kids, they might have something to do with it.

Just because a website say it is a myth, does not mean it is........No sense of humor, I tell ya......next thing you know you will be telling me there is no such thing as a barking wall spider.

Now that is no Myth! They must be drawn to Brauts because after I got done eating two of them lastnight, they seemed to follow me all around the house

Caught a nice black widow over the weekend. Let the kids take a look for what to avoid. They seem to be in the same area of the yard on a regular basis. Fun stuff. If the picture turns out on download from the camera, I will post it.
