Hello,

This is my first post on here. I thought posting on this forum would hopefully bring me an answer. Yesterday morning I ran over some spilled wet paint on 235 S just in front of Quiznos. It got on my car pretty bad, here are links to the pics...

Does anyone know about this? Did this happen to anyone else on here? If so, what are you doing about it? Do you think it was road workers that spilled this paint? I didnt know this happened until the end of the day, so the paint had some time to dry which makes it harder to remove. I am going to try to get it off myself, but if that doesnt work I will have to take it to a professional, which I dont think I should have to pay for. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chucky

Yep. happened to me a couple years back. I took pictures of my truck, the spot where it happened, but couldn't nail anyone down. I think it was a contractor on his way to do a job. It was thick reflective paint and a tough job getting it off. It looks like you got about as much on your car as I had on the truck. I used acetone after testing on an inconspicous area of the truck and figuring out it wasn't going to hurt the finish.

That is mad awful. I agree you shouldn't have to pay for it. Contact the Dept. of Public Works street cleaning program and see if you can find out what happened then inquire what one should do. All anonymously of course, until you get all the info you need.

Thanks for the reply, I think im going to try WD40 since Ive talked to a lot of people who used that in this situation. I am thinking it was a contractor too, just hoping that someone on here knows a little more about it.

And yes... Chucky is my name.

You can also try lacquer thinner. Happened to me one time and I used it, and it didn't take it all off, but got off big specks and made it not as apparent.

I got yellow paint on my car once. They were painting the lines on the road and the idiot in front of me decided to pass the paint truck. :duh:

It took a lot of elbow grease, but I used that bug & tar stuff.

That looks terrible. I doubt you'll find anybody that'll take the blame for it. I would be super pist!

try goo gone, i used it on my truck when i got tar on it and it took it right off. I would make sure it wouldn't mess up the paint though. you can get goo gone at the grocery store. I got mine at mckay's in great mills.

Sounds like a prank.. I remember I-99 every couple of miles they dumped gallon cans of paint. All different colors..

Take it to the car wash and hit it with the high pressure water and then wash it normally to get any dirt and grit off, then take clear coat safe polishing compound to it. If you dont wash it first you will just end up grinding grit into your paint. Polishing compound works wonders around the house too.
