Soooooooo, I am at the SSA for a 10am appt yesterday for Thing1. (He receives a small amount of SSI monthly for his disability, and this was his redetermination appt.)

The line is out the door. No biggie, since I have an appt. I walk into the main lobby and ask where I sign in. The big man with the gun told me I must wait in the line until they call me. There are empty seats - but I am not allowed to have one. I am TOLD (with no explanation) to go stand in line until I am called.

A freaking gun? Seriously?!

I waited AN HOUR when the announcement was made for all those with appts. to go to Window 4. The lady there apologized for the wait - and told me they were short handed. Nice that the Big man with the gun told us that. I told her that, too. I also told her that there were elderly and people with conditions that should NOT be standing in a hot doorway area for over an hour!!

I totally resisted the urge to say something to the big man with the gun on my way out the door . I told on him when I got checked in and then I also told on him again when I was sitting at the window with the lady helping me. And I asked for a comments card to fill out and send back. Which I did yesterday afternoon.

On the bright side, at least you didn't have to drive up to Camp Springs to stand in line for an hour or more!

Nope. I was there in the past 2 times. It's been abt a year since last time. I dont recall the man with a gun being so mean or imposing.

I heard them call your sons name when I was there, too!

Did you ever ask him if he carried a bullet in his shirt pocket?

But I DID! At gunpoint, no less!

gun·point
/ˈgənˌpoint/Noun
While threatening someone or being threatened with a gun.

I'm trying to figure out what the issue is;

(a) A man who worked there had a gun.

(b) You weren't allowed to sit down.

(c) You had to wait an hour.

From your description, it doesn't sound like you were at gun point at any time.

I guess they need that guy with a gun in case all those old people get out of hand. But really though, there is a reason he is so mean like that. It's because he has a gun and can be mean.

It's required isn't really qualified for field duty and they have to do something with him, so...

It's freaking obvious what she meant and you couldn't figure it out?

It's not obvious or honest on her part. Her b*tch is about the ahole not allowing her to sit down or not get in line until she is called for her appointment. She has to be a little over dramatic about the ahole wearing a gun which has nothing to do with anything else.

What do you do for a living?

Really? That's what you got from what she wrote? Well, I give you credit. You got the ahole part right.

What I do is none of your business. But I don't wear a gun if your asking.
