St. George Island

A visiting Bro-in-law

I have guests coming next week and thought a drive to St. George Island would fill a day. I've never been there...any suggestions on things to see and a good place for lunch or an early dinner?

Where are you coming from? There's nothing down there.

Well I guess that's out. I live near Solomons...just looking for something to do with a brother-in-law for a few days other than the typical St. Marys city, NAVAIR museum, don't want to go to D.C. thing. Suggestions are welcome. Yes I can treat him to some good eating at night, but the day trip thing is the problem.

Would THIS face lie?
St Clements Island Museum...Boat ride to Island.....Piney Point Light House....Calvert Marine Museum....Spend a day just tooling around Solomons...(Walk slow)...Rosies...Choo Choo lounge.... Bring him over to my house and I'll find some yard work for him to do....

Point Lookout is a nice ride too. Solomons has a winery, That gardens place (name escapes me), when he's done at Duponsters, bring him by my place. My exterior trim needs painting. :yay:

Yep the Lighthouse is about it in Piney Point ( Very nice though). If you want to get your feet wet St georges island is good for Arrow Heads. Wait till lowest tide and walk the mud flats looking in each little water filled poke hole, each outing will produce a few.

The November issue of Chesapeake Life magazine had an article that lists "100 Classics - Our tribute to the Bay's unforgettable characters and quirks, landmarks and traditions". Some of the suggestions are close by, meaning that it is possible to do them for quick day trips and so forth.

It's a great article, in large part, because it lists things to do, places to go, people to see, and a lot of the history that surrounds the Chesapeake Bay.

For those people who are interested in going somewhere different and seeing something new, you should check out this article to get some good ideas of interesting day trips within a 3 hours drive of here. I'm already trying to plan out a chance to mark off all 100 items from my "Must Do" List. If you need ideas for out-of-town guests, or if you're just tired of doing the ole' same-ole-same-ole, you can get some really fun ideas here.

Check out the full article:

100 Chesapeake Classics
You know them when you see them, those icons of the Bay, from blue crabs to crabby Willy Don. Here's our salute to the region's unforgettable people, places, and things.

It isn't the same.
Well, what if we got Remax's hubby to grill us some Black Diamonds? At the feet of TDJ? With some 10 ozers? Chase it with stuffed ham on Wonder?

I'm thinking that's a party right there :yay:
