I did not take it as demeaning.

My body, as other have suggested, produces a higher level of stomach acid than average.

My pancreas used to produce a higher than average level of digestive enzymes. Some reputable medical articles I have read indicate this MAY have caused the pancreatic, cancer.

My liver produces triple the normal level of the enzymes that "digests" ethanol, which is why a full bottle of whiskey get me tipsy, but not drunk.

No 2 humans are exactly alike, which is why I like to refer to medicine as an Art informed by Science.
You were a smoker too weren't you?

My dad was also, he went through multiple bouts of pancreatitis through his younger years. He was also a type 1 diabetic.

Yep, smoked from 18 - 52, 3 packs a day from my mid-20's to late 40's.

Surgeon said my pancreas has pancreatitis scarring, but I do not remember having the sort of pain I have seen described.
I've been borderline since the surgery, am trying to lose the weight I regained after healing. I had lost 52 pounds over the course of the active disease and treatment, regained 57. At 5' 8", was 241 before, 189 after, then up to 246. Today's scale reading was 213.

Gaining weight is a great sign though, might not like that one though.

Thank you, I figure that sharing my story might help someone avoid what I went through.

Although not their pizza, I did get an opportunity to try their $9 BBQ Pork sandwich... Meh
BBQ pork on a hoagie roll. No sides. No other toppings. Hoagie roll half-full. For $9. Lesson learned.
