I was introduced to Judge Abrams once when she was running for the job and I sat in as a member of the jury in one of her cases after she got the job, I suppose according to you I should have been excused from jury duty. The first thread on this subject was more than enough to get opinions ,shoving another one is vindictive.
So you were introduced to her. Do you think that maybe that's a little different than paying the judge tens of thousands of dollars over the years, then going before her as an attorney, and her not disclosing this to all parties on the record?
You do bring up a good point though.
What would happen if you were renting a house from person A for the past 5 years, then were called to jury duty in a case where person A was charged with murder. Would you think it was appropriate to disclose this relationship to the court? Do you think it would be appropriate to "keep it secret" because you don't think anyone would care? Would you think it would be "disrespectful " to person A to disclose it to the court and interested parties? Of course not. In fact, there are procedures in place to make sure that doesn't happen(the art of jury picking). There are no legal procedures in place to make sure that judges disclose their potential conflicts on the record. Its left up to the devices of the judge's ethical integrity.
Regarding Guenther and Abrams, it is in both of their best interests to "keep it secret", at the expense of the proper administration of justice.
