I hope your houses get egged. Happy F-in Halloween to you. Thanks for nothing.

Shes one of the biggest B's on the forums  Don't sweat it

Trick or Treating is on Sunday. If you would like to try calling the Sheriffs office I'm sure they have all the info you are looking for.

Sorry about Chasey. She's having a bad week, what with her lice and all.

If you call the st. marys county govt recs and park number, ask for Cindy.(she is the head of the holiday event department - If Cindy isn't it then just ask for the holiday event department, I'm sure Jackson will help you out as well). There are some neighborhoods in the county doing in on Sat and others doing it on Sunday. (Certain Amish neighborhoods aren't doing it at all...something about sinners, etc).

Anyhow....if you live North of the Walmart you're good to go on Sunday, South of Walmart, Saturday. (unless you live in Westbury then its Sunday morning because lets be honest, no one wants to get shot).

Please know (and I'm sure Cindy will remind you), no candy with peanuts this year. Candies with any peanut byproducts have been banned in the county this year what with all of the peanut allergies. Also, your child must use the county approved trick or treat bags. (you can get them at any library, foodlion, or post office).

Have fun!

Will they be enforcing the 'age appropriate costume' regulations this year? Last year they just gave out verbal warnings but I've heard they county is looking for money so there may be fines this year.

They had a board meeting about this very subject a few weeks ago. End result? :gossip:, its almost impossible to actually enforce this law. They are going to stick with warnings, but if approached the child must cover up their innapropriate costume or go home(i.e. snookie, miley crus post hannah montana, Antoine Dobson, etc).

There is a reflector requirment this year. Reflective tape and or flashing vest must be worn if out after dusk. This will be STRONGLY enforced.

:lmao: And I thought MtnGrl was overthinking this.

If they can't see the kids, how will they know they're not following the rules?

Can someone remind me what the rule is about what the allowable kid:parent ratio is? I can't remember and I can't find my rulebook.

Reply from County:

"Halloween is held on October 31 in St. Mary's County. A few years ago, the Commissioners changed the date from Sunday to Saturday (for all the reasons you mentioned) and the public went CRAZY!!! There was such a backlash from the citizens that the Commissioners won't even consider a change. Ever since that fiasco, the Commissioners leave Halloween on whatever day of the week happens to be October 31.

Have a great day,
Sarah

NOT Politically Correct!!
Actually, this is not the case. One year, some bright lightbulb decided that an alternate night would be used instead of HALLOWEEN night. It went over very badly, and the decision to re-schedule trick-or-treating was never approached again.

Not sure how any one boob can do that for the whole county, it's always been on Halloween since we've lived here although that's only been since 2003...:dye:

I just want to know why people think we would change any "Holiday" to better fit our schedules???? Halloween is October 31st; it doesn't matter what day it falls on.

Actually, it was 5 boobs that decided this. Oddly enough, none of them were re elected. Go figure.
