How did I ever make 42 years without you?

It's a mystery.

Fact is that people like #### food. All those crappy chains, SML being packed all the time, Jake and Al's still being open, the Lexington and Mixing Bowl for crying out loud. There is no limit to people's capacity for garbage, so that's what we end up with.

Pete and I went to CoCo Cantina the other day and the food was decidedly mediocre, so I predict it will be a booming success.

OK. Glad you enjoyed your meal. Do you think the physical plant is rundown? Did you see the water stains on the ceiling or dirty bathrooms?

Are you asking if the place is old, the answer is of course. I feel a "duh" should be inserted here.

However, was the place clean considering the age and normal wear and tear associated with that, the answer is yes it was.

Even your most modern establishment - let's take Ruby Tuesday's - will have moments lacking upkeep due to whatever reason (higher than expected influx of people and lack of staff) and will have items on their maintenace list - such as replace ceiling tiles, rips in seating, etc. that don't get accomplished immediately due to budget and time constraints.

My reasoning is as long as an establishment's health rating is decent, the place is reasonably clean and I enjoy the food and service, I don't have a problem with wear and tear. I'm glad for that, because some of my favorite dining experiences have been in some serious dives.

They are Ledo's now. I remember the lines at McDonald's when it first opened, that was nuts in its own right.

Yes, I remember, it was nuts. Worst part, I lived on the road behind Escape Video and you could see the "golden arches" thru the trees except in the summer, my kids drove me crazy.
