St. Mary's Motors the Rip off Artist

Is it just me or am I going insane. I went into this used car dealership at hopes of getting a car that ran well but what I got was the run around. After your down payment is made and the deal is signed you become an outcast. The car had major issues that needed to be fixed and well within the 30 warrenty, yet what we got was the run around. The ower did a great job of not keeping his word, not honoring the terms of the warrenty and wasting our time. In fact he offered to do things and then later change his mind or push it off as if it was his sales person wrong doing. I want everyone to be aware of what will happen if you go there. People work very hard for there money and every penny counts for something. People deserve to be treated fair and have there money work for them and not against them. If you want the owner to fill his pockets with your money and you receive a car that doesn't run right that will not be fixed then run right on down to St. Mary's motors and get what you didn't pay for.

believe me! you are not going insane! they did it to my husband and i years ago...we paid for the 2 year warranty ..the motor went up in 1 year....no problem right? ..wrong! went to get a copy of the warranty and it was written for 90 days! and had forged signatures on it!!!! now is against credit by one company as being repossessed when we turned it in and it was sold! the other credit bureau says satisfied! if i had the money to take them to court it would take a judge about 2 seconds to see the signatures are forged they are not even close! still harrassing us after 8 years.....:cds:

they are not all crooks because we have had a couple of cars from there that were good...but we had a decent salesman at the time...there is one big snake there and i think we all know his name...

First of all, let me say I am sorry that it appears as though you might have been wronged. However, this might be a case of "caveat emptor" (buyer beware).

Generally speaking, people do not get rid of a car unless there is something wrong. I have found that when you buy a used car, you are usually buying someone else's problems. You claim there were "major problems" with the car. What kind of problems did you encounter and how soon after you bought the car?

Purchasing a car is considered to be the second biggest investment people normally make (behind a house). Because of that, people need to do a little more homework and be more leery of the people they are dealing with.

Were you allowed to take a test drive in the car for more than just around the block? Were you allowed to test drive the car without the salesman with you?

Did you check the Kelly Blue Book value of the car that you were buying? Was the price you paid comparable to blue book value?

Did you talk with friends about the agency and see if anyone else had any problems with them?

I did a check (per someone else's suggestion) from the BBB on the agency you mentioned. This is what the BBB says. The rating is on an A+ to F scale.

This business has not been accredited by BBB.

A lot of folks feel they need to drive a new car every few years and not all were traded due to problems.
Yes you should do your research on price, reliability, repair costs etc to try and find a reliable used car.

... and unless you're going to park a car for 50 years, it NEVER an investment.

4 or 5 years ago I got a car from George's Auto Body and went thru this very same thing.

If you buy a car from a collision repair business:
Odds are it has been in a collision.
Odds are nobody paid for the repairs and they did the work as cheaply as possible

It was pretty, cheap, and ran well when I test drove it. In fact, it ran well for almost a week. It then started knocking and overheating. Damn thing nickeled and dimed me until it blew up a few months later.

APS - you are right - I used the wrong term. Instead of investment, I should have said purchase. However, I did not say that ALL were traded due to problems.

Where are they located? The only St. Marys Motors I know of is a repair shop in Callaway, didnt know they were a sales lot also.

Thanks for the information. We have done all the research including the BBB. Sadly the car went bad later. It passed Maryland Inspect and the test drive was ok. No issue up until we had a problem and got the run around.

cars

Stop buying cars from dealerships that aren't backed by a brand. and Copy everything, keep the originals the ones signed with ink. If its a legitimate business they would have no problem giving you the inked original. I have had friends buy cars from there and they are actually petitioning his business. Start your own. matter of fact ask people on here how many people got cheated by this guy. I smell a class action lawsuit

Did the warranty cover the broken part? If everything was "fine" when you bought it and you had a warranty that covered the specific part then you can goto a number of places. If the warranty did not cover what was broken then I think you just need to take it as a learning experience.
