It was bad. The house was pretty well involved by the time anyone had gotten there. Luckily, Chief 3 has never been afraid to request what he needs and return it if he doesn't. He requested 3 additional tankers from the jump and eventually wound up requesting three more to keep a good rotational water supply going to supply the fire ground. The fill site was kind of far away, but with the amount of tankers we had, it wasn't a problem. Kudos to everybody there. :yay:

At 0241 on 2/9, firefighters from Companies 3, 9, 6 and Water Supply 5 were alerted to the 18558 block of Point Lookout Road for the report of a working house fire. Units from Company 3 arrived on the scene and advised Fireboard of a confirmed working residential fire. Chief 3 established command at this time and requested three additional tankers to the scene.

At 0255, Companies 4, 1 and 7 were alerted to the scene. Engine 44 (Chief 4A Raley) responded shortly after the dispatch with five personnel. Engine 44 arrived behind Engine 63 and began supplying Engine 91 who was, in turn, supplying Engine 32. Command advised Engine 44 to fall in line with tanker shuttles and send the crew to the manpower pool. Water Supply 5 proceeded to Bradley Blvd where Water Supply 3 had set up a water supply at a source hydrant.

Wow, some people are happy that a home burned to the ground and people lost everything, because there was a starving horse on the property? Was this horse thing big news a few years ago, before I got here?

Who is Chief 3? Is it Keith Fairfax? I recognize the voice all the time, but can't put a name to it unless it is him and it sounds like him.

I am so very blessed
The father and son who were responsible for the horse are both dead now. Mom/widow still lived there.
I was under the impression that the old house that burned down was actually vacant.....that the window hadn't lived there since her husband had died last year. However, the trailer behind the old farmhouse was rented out.

Maybe. The story said she wasn't there, so that makes sense. I was just referring to the horse and the POS's who were responsible.

I also think that the horse was not owned by the owners of the house, but rather, by the folks who rented barn & pasture space on the farm.

The owners were quite elderly and would have no use for a horse.

But I admit, I could be entirely wrong.

There are at least five trailers behind the house. The man that died last year was 67 so that really isn't that old. I have a coworker that rents a lot back there and they lost water for a day before the pump power line was re-routed from the house to the pump shed. Thank god no one was hurt.

The owner was 67 when he died last year. That's Bob's age!

Their son who had most of the animals was late 30's, early 40's.

Does Keith talk a lot on the radio? I always hear his voice, it seems, kind of throaty and deep. I don't know the other guy. I worked on some committees with Keith a long time ago. Very nice guy.

Joe Gould is the guy you always hear on the radio. Keith Fairfax is hardly ever on the radio unless he is doing water supply for fires. And, TBH, this is the first time I've heard him in a long time on the radio.
