I was sitting in a lawn chair, beer in one hand, fishing rod in the other and watching the sunset to my right as boats passed by the island and I decided that this indeed is the land of pleasant living.

I cannot see how anyone can witness what I witnessed this evening and say Southern Maryland sucks.

I do love living here.

I drive an hour & half to get to work and come home to Southern Calvert County and I would love to work closer to home but would not move anywhere else for all the money in the world!

I love living here too, within a couple hours drive in you can get to the ocean, or go the other direction and get to the mountains, and the nations capital. We get great sunsets and sunrises living on the bay.

I was waxing a little poetic last night. but I was enjoying life.

AND....We have purty good weather too....Look at what is going on in other parts of the country...There are mud slides, wild fires, Tornado ally, extreme cold, extreme heat, hurricanes, and flooding just to name a few...We have a taste of all 4 seasons....I know it gets a little humid around here in the summer but WTH, thats probably our worst thing we have to deal with...We might get an occasional thunder storm or maybe even a taste of a hurricane but i can live with that....Oh and kom...That view of the Va. cliffs is a sight to behold...

I saw some lightning last night over on the VA side but the only thing I was contending with last night was the gnats. The stars and planets were gorgeous and I also caught a glimpse of a passing satellite. Even if the fish weren't biting (they were though) it was great time to be out there.

I grew up down where you're living and everytime I go down there, I have to ride around the point and look around. There are new houses there, but I just see what was there when I was little. I love it down there too, but you don't appreciate it until you get older and leave it.

I can only assume it's because they don't enjoy or appreciate peaceful surroundings and relaxation. And anyone who says the people down here are rude and nasty doesn't know what they're talking about. In the two weeks so far that I've been down here, I've encountered nothing but helpful people who have made my transition easy - from all the people who helped me move in, to the cashier at the Target who rousted a stock boy to help me carry my patio furniture out to the car.

I love it here, too.
