And anyone who says the people down here are rude and nasty doesn't know what they're talking about. In the two weeks so far that I've been down here, I've encountered nothing but helpful people who have made my transition easy - from all the people who helped me move in, to the cashier at the Target who rousted a stock boy to help me carry my patio furniture out to the car.
I love it here, too.
Yes, I too remember moments like that. That is why, after leaving SoMd 8 years ago, I still miss many things about living there.kom526 said:Idyll-(ic).
I was sitting in a lawn chair, beer in one hand, fishing rod in the other and watching the sunset to my right as boats passed by the island and I decided that this indeed is the land of pleasant living.
I cannot see how anyone can witness what I witnessed this evening and say Southern Maryland sucks.
I do love living here.

We lived in Yuma, which is not exactly the prettiest area in Az.Toxick said:Tucson.
The mountain pictures are taken in the Santa Catalinas which runs east-to-west along the northern edge of the Rincon Valley where Tucson is. I'm not totally sure, but the sunset picture looks like it was taken east or southeast of the city proper.
God, I miss it so much.

We went backpacking in the White Mountains (I believe). It was beautiful. We used to spend a lot of time in the desert, camping and playing on our 3-wheelers, and a LOT of time at the sand dunes right outside of Yuma. Those were the days. I have a lot of good memories.Toxick said:Yuma is not so bad.
The prettiest place in Arizona (to me) is probably between Tucson and Phoenix - in the Oro Valley area. Very rural, and enough vegatation to give the area some color, but not so much that it obscures the rugged landscape.
Also way up north, in Monument Valley and in the Grand Canyon is really really nice, but it's very rugged up there too, so some people might not consider it beautiful.
