I assume Scotty has never said this when they are using sub-light or impulse drives. Who knows that kind of woowoo physics apply when they are in warp drive. Not to mention light particles striking their shields or ship apply a force (i.e. friction). it's normally infinitesimally small, but in a warp drive scenario it might be a real concern as would trying to keep a straight path while fighting against gravitational pull of the solar systems whizzing by.
