It amazes me how many Yoders are at the casino in Anderson, IN for the harness races.
Even more amazing how many gamble on the ponies with the whole family there.

In Ohio I learned not everyone named Yoder is Amish or Mennonite. I also learned many Amish are "jumping the fence" to Mennonite.

Never been a Starbuck's person, I'll stay with my WaWa coffee, or a person could just drive say 100ft. and get a coffee at Royal Farms. Unfortunately its not on the northbound side of the highway for the morning commuters. Ive lived right at the county line on Oaks Rd. for almost 44 years, its going to really clog traffic coming out of Oaks rd.
Me either. They don't call it Charbucks for nothing - it's terribly over-roasted.

In Ohio there are so many that instead of relying on farming they had to branch out to businesses and tourism. I think its mostly to adapt to the outside world better. There is a three county area there that's larger than all of southern Maryland that's considered Amish country. It was pretty wild to see some Amish or Mennonite boys program a laser wood burner at a furniture store. It was also pretty wild to see so many riding electric bicycles, those things haul ass. The food there is incredible.

I call all of them Yoders...
Ours here are from Elkhart, Shipshewana, Goshen, Middlebury, Nappanee, Bristol and Wakarusa. Or east of us in Portland. Most at the horse races are Amish with a few German Baptist tossed in.

If nothing else the Amish/Mennonites are pragmatists, they'll partially adapt in business to continue in it and make money. You need electricity to run the milking machines and chillers in the barn then there's electric there, but none in the house. Need a computer to do spread sheets and calculations then there will be one. A cash register to keep away the tax man and it will be used instead of a cigar box.
Back to the immediate cultural upgrading of St. Mary's County, nay all of SoMD, by having a Starbucks in Charlotte Hall. How badly will it **** up traffic?

If the geniuses here would build things back off the road it wouldn't be too bad, but I expect them to build it right on the main road where the drive through line will be backed out into the main road.
I think all shopping centers etc should be built off a side road back off the main road, sort of like Arbys is there.

Its interesting with the different Orders and what is done for a living in different States.
Eco- tourism is big business in Indiana selling-services to the English here.
Huge restaurants, buffets, retail is big money here.
