Started Seeing A Gastroenterologist

I woke up in the middle of my procedure. Perfectly lucid. I looked at the screen and asked if that was a polyp. Doc says yes as he snips it, I feel a pinch, then nappy time again as the nurse puts me back under.

Had a large portion of my colon removed. Day before the procedure, the doc gives me twice the normal dose of "cleansing agent". I was still pooping as I'm being wheeled into surgery.

Had the barium contrast for an MRI. Had a choice of flavors. I chose lime. Tasted like a horrible Key Lime Pie. To this day, I cringe at the thought of Key Lime Pie.

Think of it like changing the oil in your car. You are getting rid of the old sludge and built up crap (literally). My first one was the best- I had a lot of energy and felt great. Well, maybe it was the after effects of the twilight, too. :lmao:

.....due to "a mistake" made @ G'town in 2014. Resulting issues post-surgery, just got worse, so that's why.
Today, doc asks me if I've ever had a colonoscopy. Ehhhh.....no; don't want one either. It was strongly suggested I have one done, because of the "mistake" that was made.
I'm prob'ly just worrying 'bout nuthin'. Right? Cuz I'll be asleep anyway.

My wife's cousin never had a colonoscopy done. He started having gastro problems. Had the colonoscopy and they found cancer. He had to have a colon bypass done and now he's on a coloscopy bag for the rest of his life; AND will be fighting the cancer for months. I've had 3 of them. They are no big deal.

My problems began in 2014. I had had surgery for my Hydrocephalus; something I was born with.

The surgeon; while removing scar tissue in my abdomen; cut open my intestine in my lower abdomen. Picture winding twine around a garden hose tightly enough to reduce the diameter of said hose. Now picture trying to cut away that twine without lacerating the hose. The opposite happened to me. So, the doc had to open me up again to remove the damaged tissue and "splice" my intestines back together. When I asked 'how much did you cut out?' I got 'About that much.' Something like 3-4 inches. So now.....things "move faster." Doesn't matter if I eat pizza, steak or "bunny food," it all travels fast.

Sounds like grounds for a lawsuit. Sorry you're going through this. But I think this suggests all-the-more-reason to have the colonoscopy. They have to get in there and look to see if everything is normal. It seems you've been through a lot, I get your reluctance. But I figure the prep and procedure is worth avoiding worse if you don't get it done.

Trust me, the lawsuit idea was tossed around, but not for very long. Why? Because it costs money we didn't and don't have to sue; and we're talking about taking a surgeon and/or a hospital to court. The chances of the court(s) deciding in MY favor aren't very.....favorable.
I won't even tell you about the catheter removal incident that happened during the same hospital stay; but I will ask this.....ever try pulling a basketball through a fire hose?

The colonoscopy is a 'roundtoit' for me right now. Nothing's getting better, but nothing's getting worse.

Don't forget the Vaseline either. Your pancake will be raw!
Vaseline.....Prep H /:-\

This is starting to sound more and more like a "fun" prospect as the days go by. OFW! Never had one done; prob'ly should have back a few years ago. Now, the piper's playin', with his collection plate in his hand.
(A labored metaphor). You mentioned "pancake." At least the doc doesn't have to "squish" anything.

No, it's not, but I'm sure that won't stop you.

The Dr. is female; she's good looking; and I don't see a ring. Thing is, after "the procedure" saying, 'what are you doing for dinner tomorrow night?' just somehow seems inappropriate.

She don't wear a ring cause she doesn't want to lose it in your ass.
