How would you tell you significant other that you have contracted a STD that you did not get from them?
Would you tell them?
Would you just treat it and hope it is one that can be taken care of?
Would you blame them?

Seems like everyday I have more new patients coming in for an office visit for treatment of a STD. They will not go to their primary care doctor for fear of their S/O finding out.

Every time I get another one I add it to the list on my back. Like a label on a can of soup.

If I had it - wouldn't he then have it, too? (as far as just treating it and hoping it would go away)

Thank god I've never been in that predicament so I have no clue what I would do!

Why would you blame the other person who did nothing wrong? :smack:

Or do you mean she/he isnt giving he/she enough at home so they go out and get some strange and get an STD.. Either way thats wrong!

Believe it or not, I caught the crabs from a female whom I lost my virginity too. Granted it's not "the gift that keeps on giving" but I thought it was rather funny until I had to go to the doctor. He made me pull my pants down and then proceeded to pull out his pocket knife and scrape a crab onto a microscope slide to confirm it was indeed pubic lice. After the confirmation, he told me to go to the pharmacy and by NIX and shampoo the hell out of my pubic hair then use the fine tooth comb provided in the kit to comb out all of the lil crabbies. I thought I had jock itch the whole time until I went to the doctor. :jameo:

Oh BTW, I was 15 when this happened.

I find it hard to believe you are truly a doctor. After working in the medical field for 18 years, doctors know that STDs have to be reported to the State Health Department and certain STDs require the patient to notify previous sexual partners. The patient is required to list the names of previous partners and they will contact them to receive treatment.

Well thank God I am following you all day today then. If I start to feel an itch I can borrow your comb.

I can honestly say I have never had an STD, but then again I don't know. Nothing itches or burns...or looks like a rash so I am pretty sure I'm good to go. :yay:
