Sterling resigns, citing 'questionable' practices at St. Mary's state's attorney's office

St. Mary's prosecutor Jaymi Sterling, former deputy state's attorney and stepdaughter of Gov. Larry Hogan (R), is resigning from the state's attorney's office following her demotion amid reporting allegedly "questionable" financial and personnel practices to authorities.
Sterling, who has served in the office for the past nine years and was recently appointed as deputy state's attorney for St. Mary's County in January, said in a press release sent Wednesday evening that in her role as deputy she had "uncovered questionable financial and personnel practices," and "took action to make sure these practices were reported to the appropriate authorities" before being demoted, which she said was motivated by reporting her allegations.

Her father should not be part of the story, Sounds like Fritz could be facing a new FBI investigation after his run in with St. Mary's Today

It would appear that being in the governor's household didn't prevent her from being demoted. Usually with a kin in the governors house, you have some immunity to repercussions. The worst case that I can remember was the incompetent Percy Wetmore.

It's clear Fritz didn't care and the also clear that it wasn't her performance that got her demoted.
Up until she raised the issue, she had been promoted several times.
Then she says, "somethings wrong here' and gets demoted.
Again, it would appear Fritz doesn't care about the optics.
