Just because you can't stop all gun violence is no reason to try and stop most of it.

...you offer up a bunch of scenarios where there is crime every step of the way; illegal guns being used illegally.

If you want to stop most of it, would you then support measures that actually reduce it, like liberal interpretations of the 2nd amendment?

What I picture is multiple stray shots killing lots more innocent people.

Which has not happened in the 38 states that allow citizens to carry.

More guns on the street does not equate to a safer environment.

All it stops is law abiding citizens owning guns leagally. It does not stop criminals from getting guns illegally. We have laws prohibiting drugs, and that hasn't stopped them.

I thought was shot by his own gun, while running away from the cops. But the bullet went through the perps leg/thigh and into the cops calf who was running behind.

The SSA that chats me up told me :shrug: that it was a "drug buy", perp shot cop while running away - bullet bounced around cop's leg and came out to hit the perp and f' him up bad. He told me this to impress upon me 1) the importance of karma and 2) that I am not allowed to have a taser gun after I asked him for one.

More. I am not sure, but I think I remember someone testifying in Annapolis that there are more people killed with baseball bats than guns. Quick, someone pass a law; no more baseball bats ... or cricket bats. Of course in one country where citizens cannot have guns any more, the murder rate didn't change, only the weapon of choice, ... ready for this ... iron skillet. Now there is a way to go ... beat to death with an iron skillet ... quick forest ... run ... get a law passed against iron skillets.

Implements are just that, implements, whether is is a bat, brick, knife, gun, shovel, or iron skillet. Don't pass laws against implements. Pass laws against those that use the implements illegally. What a concept.

Forest got himself into a similar discussion a month or so ago. I remember commenting that the point is not simply to ban the use of guns, but ban their manufacture/import. Certainly that is the eventuality.

"Gee, we've banned every type of gun that exists, yet violence remains. Let's take out the manufacturers!"
