I won't say it is bad but I won't say it is good either. I spent about 10 years on the North Carolina coast and you can definately tell the difference in the quality of seafood.

I just think they are a little overpriced for what you get.
You ever go The Sanitary??

We've been going to Clarke's Landing more often this summer. I actually prefer their crabcakes and their burgers are quite good.

The colossal shrimp are excellent and I ordered the flat iron steak sandwich my last visit. TASTY! I like to pick at everybody's food, and the crab imperial/crabcakes are good. The mussels were not up to par the last visit, but have been good in the past. You can't lose with the burger.

Between Stoney's and Clarke's I would choose Clarke's. JMO.

Yup, Morehead City!!! I love that place. My friends and I dated a lot of the girls that work at The Sanitary, The Dock House, The Channel Marker, Rapps, and the rest of the places. Very good food down there and not as expensive either.

As for fresh crabs, I honestly thought most of the local restraunts served blue crabs from North Carolina as well. I honestly heard it is because of the over harvesting that goes on. Any truth to that?

P.S. The best crabcake is at Lexington Market in Baltimore. There is no debate.

you can tell the difference in the taste. maybe not if you aren't from around here. Just like the sters from the gulf taste and look different.

Cross Street Market in Baltimore (Federal Hill) has the best Crab Soup.

That may be true when the crabs aren't "runnin'" good here, but my experience with NC crabs has not been good' most were light "white bottoms" and smelled of ammonia.

BTW 99% of the shrimp we get here are frozen and come in 5lb boxes, there is not much difference in them than fresh shrimp because of the process they use in freezing them.

Also I would prefer to get a tuna steak that had been previously frozen while eating out in this area. We can get fresh tuna but it is usually atleast 2 days old by the time the markets/resturants get it. There are IQF tuna steaks that are sold that are awesome, they are sealed fresh and then Individually Quick Frozen and IMO can't be beat unless you live in an ocean town adn can get tuna the same day it was caught.
