1 Subtropical Storm Andrea
2Tropical Storm Barry
3 Tropical Storm Chantal
4 Hurricane Dean
5 Tropical Storm Erin
6 Hurricane Felix
7 Tropical Storm Gabrielle
8 Tropical Storm Ingrid
9 Hurricane Humberto
10 Tropical Depression Ten
11 Tropical Storm Jerry
12 Tropical Storm Karen
13 Hurricane Lorenzo
14 Tropical Storm Melissa
15 Tropical Depression Fifteen

Out of 15 storms 4 were hurricanes. looks pretty average to me

:yay:

I think only one of those storms or depressions came anywhere close to the East Coast most seemed to fizzle out, way out. I swear I can only remember having about 5 or 6 thunderstorms this whole summer. Seemed in the last several years every evening we were having severe thunderstorm warnings and actually getting some really bad storms.

Unless a dramatic and perhaps historical flurry of activity occurs in the next 9 weeks, 2007 will rank as a historically inactive TC year for the Northern Hemisphere as a whole. During the past 30 years, only 1977, 1981, and 1983 have had less activity to date (January-TODAY, Accumulated Cyclone Energy). However, the year is not over...

2007 lowest September activity on record since 1977

2006 and 2007 lowest October activity on record since 1976 and 1977

For the period of June 1 - TODAY, only 1977 has experienced LESS tropical cyclone activity than 2007.
There are currently two worldwide tropical cyclones: Tropical Storm Noel and Unnamed Arabian Sea TS...

On average to date (1970-2006), the Eastern Pacific season is 97% completed, Western Pacific 82%, North Atlantic 93% and overall Northern Hemisphere 87%.

How are they stronger?
You know how, you know what's going on, you've just got your mindset so far to the right that you choose to ignore it.

They're getting stronger and forming faster than ever before. Look at Charley, Katrina, Wilma, Felix, Humberto, Ivan, Dennis, Jeanne.

So, one year, which saw two category 5 hurricanes make landfall as category 5 hurricanes (a first in recorded history) and saw Humberto grow into a hurricane in less than 18 hours from nothing with dry air and land interference.

Yep, you're right, tropics are safe. I should move to the Gulf Coast and not worry about hurricanes.

Where are you getting that I said any of this stuff? This thread is about the predicted severe hurricane season that has turned into one of the weakest seasons on record.

Put the bong down. It's making you paranoid.

1992 was a below average hurricane season. Would you tell the people in Florida that that was a weak hurricane season?

Why should politics have anything to do with hurricanes?

It's been fairly clearly established - DESPITE Al Gore - that global warming and hurricane strengths in recent years have zero connection. None. You don't have to be right or left on it. It has no more to do with global warming than earthquakes and tsunamis.

Unless of course, you think they do. I suspect you also believe that the hurricanes of 2005 hit only counties in Florida that voted for Bush, as retribution from GOD for voting Republican.

Still not a hurricane... Only a tropical storm.

Why is it so Deadly??? Cause 20 idiots cant swim, or couldnt seek shelter. This is not the first time a hurricane has hit the Dominican Republic. If you choose not to learn from history, then I dont feel sorry for you.
I lived in Florida for 13 years, and even a tropical storm can cause immense damage.

And the reason I say politics does having something to do with it is because only the far right wingers are quick to dismiss hurricane season predictions and all that other stuff, because, you know, weather patterns don't change at all either, right?

Yet they're the first ones to :blahblah: :jameo: over a terror alert memo. May I remind you of the 2005 New York plot, where they said a terrorist attack was inevitable and the whole thing was made up. :roflmao:

... is also a 20-30 year cycle, and is entirely natural, because weather patterns change over the years.

Al Gore left that part of his documentary. I'm sure global warming is the reason it was 45° (with a high of 49°) at that Richmond race in the middle of May. :brrrr:
