Berry Farm
Although the thread about the dog on this farm is from May, I feel compelled to reply. I was browsing through this site and saw your comment. Lest anyone be swayed by inaccurate and snap judgments, I happen to know the story behind this dog, as it was ultimately given to a highly regarded search and rescue training program. The people at the berry farm loved this dog very much, but this dog had serious dominance and therefore safety issues, which often don't manifest until after introduced into a multiple animal environment. While this nice family struggled to help this new pet fit in to the farm life, it just could not adapt and often threatened their own children and did bite other animals. It would also wander to neighboring properties and cause havoc there as well. They gave this dog to another loving family with no children who were willing to take on the challenge, and they too, could not get through to this dog. Ultimately it was determined that this dog's personality would be best suited to mission work and a single owner. She went through a professional training program and is now a highly trained search and rescue dog. She just did not have a family pet (part of the pack) personality, but was an Alpha dog. This is a lovely farm and the owners are certainly not weird. How many of us can truly claim that when very frustrated with continual disobedience or when protecting your own children that we have not lashed out? This family was so concerned with finding her a good home that even though they paid top dollar for her from a purebred breeder, they gave her to a good home and did not sell her. I know this dog, and she is still not particularly friendly, but now at least does a good job with her new owner. Pets, like people, come with all kinds of personalities. I think you will enjoy this family oriented farm very much and strange comments thrown out there by anonymous people should be ignored. All of their animals appear to be loved and well cared for.
