Students Holding Immigrant Youth Rights Rally At College Park

(College Park, MD) -- More than 100 high school and college students as well as teachers and supporters are expected at the University of Maryland at College Park for an immigrant youth rights rally.

Liz Alex with CASA de Maryland hopes the demonstration will help convince both Maryland and federal lawmakers that there is a need for new laws which will allow high school students who are the sons and daughters of illegal immigrants to get an affordable college education.

Two bills which would set in-state tuition rates for immigrant youth attending Maryland High schools and whose parents pay their taxes are being considered in the state legislature.

Right now such students must pay the higher out-of-state rates.

Congress is looking at the creation of a program which would give high performing youth brought to the U.S. at an early age a path to citizenship.

The event was planned to coincide with high school spring break.

You have to remember...these are newbies, as we were once, and they are idealists . They "know" everything and haven't been exposed to the realities of life....In this season, we have to be like the Christos and "forgive them for they know not what they do"
On the other hand, the professors nee teaches that encourage them are a whole different kettle of fish and are subject to the rule of Law.
