Stuff for kids to do

Do children need to be "doing" something every moment? Do you have to take them to something amazing every day? I would think that riding a bike, playing outside, reading a book, washing the dog, etc..would be enough. I used to take bowls of flour and spoons outside (don't tell my mom :) and mix it with stuff and "cook" on those green electric boxes (they get hot..try it ) we would take a small trip in the summer, maybe go to an amusment park one day..or a girl scout camp..I don't ever remember feeling upset that I didn't get to go to some activity every day. I think it is just find if there isn't "anything to do." maybe if people would stop insisting their child have some sort of fascinating, amazing, uber-educational experience every day..then when they get to be older they will be able to entertain themselves and won't be chasing excitement.

:yeahthat:.....remind me again why we need to entertain our children 24/7?

One more vote for Calvert Marine Museum.

Visit on the First Free Friday of the month from 5pm to 8pm for FREE admission, FREE family style entertainment and FREE rides on the Tennison (weather permitting). You don't need tickets or reservations, just come on over with all the kids, relax and have fun.

Then you have plenty of money to go to dinner or get an ice cream after.

My younger ones love the Sprayground at Nicolet Park. Only $2 per person... great summer fun. Also visiting the local library for kid craft books/cook books is fun. We like to do art projects too like filling spray bottles with watered down tempra paint and spraying giant pieces of paper outside.

The Sprayground ROCKS! :yahoo:

I have never been to cove point pool and might go tomorrow. Is it unbearably overcrowded or is there room to have fun without bumping into people?
