STUFFED HAM WITH A KICK - NYTimes.com

Found this article while searching for something else. Pretty cool mention of some restaurants that no longer exist in the county.

I wish there was a place to get a sandwich for under $3.00 still.

Exactly. Would be nice to fill up at $1.30 a gallon, which was the average gas price for America in 1982.

I remember when gas was close to, but under $1.00/gal. I also remember the odd-even days when one could go sit in line.

But, back to the stuffed ham.....I just haven't acquired a taste for it.
I have tried variations of the recipe and just don't have a taste for stuffed ham. I think it's the kale; not a big fan.

My wife is from out of state and she feels the same way. She usually picks the kale out and eats the meat.

I LOVE Stuffed Ham, and like you..am not a fan of Kale. What about stuffing it with Cabbage, Spinach, or Collard Greens? That sounds good.!

Very interesting and I remember those restaurants well. St. Mary's Landing used to be the BOMB. :yum:

I did think this was funny:

The few other St. Marys County restaurants - there are not many down there

Lot of difference in almost 30 years.

Yes, the change seemed to happen overnight for me. I left for boot camp in 2000 and came back to the state in 2009. Was like a different world around here. Even the change from 2009 until now is substantial in my eyes.

Thank the move of NAVAIR down here in the late 90's for most of that. Lots more people and lots more $$$ to spend.
