This would seem to be an indication of the growing power of the Muslim in the UK.

It seems a shame that a nation so strong and brave in the onslaught of Hitler would crumble to the invasion of Islam.
As the power of Muslims increases the UK will become a shell of the former nation it was as though it were not that shell already.

I think if they have a store in a largely Muslim location, it makes sense that they would cater to those customers. I have no doubt that at some point there will be a Halal only store in Minneapolis and Detroit, if there isn't already.

The story says "demand", but the McRib made a comeback because of demand by people like my mother. In my mind it's just Subway targeting a demographic.

If I may ...

Google says they plan to have 3000 stores in the UK and Ireland by 2020. So Muslims make up 5 percent of the population there, and they convert a little under 7 percent of their stores to Halal. Given you find more Subway type restaurants in lower end neighborhoods than in nice ones (also where you find more recent immigrants) this doesn't seem like a crazy response. It's no more "changing their business model" than McDonals in Japan offering a taryaki burger. Changing their business model would be if they decided to do income taxes instead of sell sandwiches at all of their stores.

Propoganda or not, it wouldn't matter to me. Subway is horrible. And the only thing it has to do with is the quality of their food, which is very poor.
