Sun-Maid Apricots

Railroad

Routinely Derailed
New bag of said Apricots. Bag reads, "Tear here." I tore. No open. I pull and tug and try a dozen different strategic grips. Finally pops open, nearly becoming an apricot fountain. I eat a few nice, fresh apricots. I try to close the bag using its zip-loc feature. No close. More struggling and manipulating and holding my mouth just right trying to get the bag to seal. I notice the corner of the bag: "FREE Our 100th Anniversary Book." Sun-Maid, spend the money on the bag, not the book which nobody wants! :burning:

I am so very blessed
The manufacturer purposefully uses bad packaging for one of two scenarios, but with the same outcome.

Scenario 1: You bust open the package and get frustrated that you can't re-seal it, so you end up eating the entire package in one setting. When you want more, you have to buy another package.

Scenario 2: You bust open the package to eat just a handful, and when you realize that you can't adequately seal the remaining contents, you loosely twist the packaging and tuck it under itself thinking that that will keep things fresh. Ultimately, the tuck becomes untucked, and the contents get all hard and yucky, so you throw the partially-eaten package in he trash. When you want more, you have to buy another package.

At least that is what happens in my house.

Bottom line, you end up buying more, and that's always the goal of a manufacturer/producer.
