I've been hitting the jackpot lately with the new skincare stuff I've been trying so I thought I'd share a couple finds since it was a long hard road to discover them. Lately I've been having an issue with hyperpigmentation after a blemish and I use retinol so I need at least SPF 30 if I even think about going outside. I've been using Neutrogena Sport Face SPF 70+ when I exercise outside and Clinique City Block SPF 40 as my normal daily sunscreen.
Neutrogena Sport Face is pretty comparable to their other sunscreens and costs like $7 for a good sized tube that will probably last well beyond it's expiration date. It goes on pretty greasy but after a few minutes it has more of a powdery finish (sort of like their dry touch stuff but not quite as silky feeling). You can definitely tell it's on your face, but it feels more like a foundation and less like a heavy duty sunscreen. I think this would be great for the beach or pool because it doesn't slide off when you sweat and doesn't leave you looking really greasy. I used my SIL's Clinique suncreen stick for faces last year and looked and felt like a greasy french fry. Needless to say that broke me out.
The Clinique City Block is amazing. It's slightly tinted, so it may not be good for people with darker skin as it doesn't come in different shades. It's marketed as a primer and it works nicely in that regard, but I've just been wearing it by itself. It doesn't give quite the same effect as a tinted moisturizer but it just kind of smooths everything out. It's oil free and gives a bit of a dewy finish. Makeup usually makes my t-zone oily after a few hours and that wasn't a problem with this. It lasts all day and is a physical sunblock with some chemical sunblock in there as well, for those that care about that sort of thing. It's $19 but I got it for $16 at the NEX.
Just a little rave from the sunscreen queen.
