Suspects Claim Sovereign Citizenship

I actually read someplace that you can do that if it is owned by a private citizen and the house is abandoned, but basically you have to occupying the house for at least 20 years to have a legal claim.

Well since they only recognize the authority of sheriffs, they can recognize the fact that the Charles County Sheriffs arrested them and they are going to rot in jail for awhile. They look like a bunch of sovereign idiots. Sadly, its not likely this crew will learn their lesson with each day that goes by behind bars.

You know, I don't necessarily like or trust the government, I don't like paying taxes and I care less for some laws than others, but I still pay my taxes and obey the law because it is the law, not a suggestion. "Sovereign citizenship" in this case is an excuse to shirk responsibility and engage in criminal activity, nothing more.

Sovereign citizens don't always have to be midwest white people angry at the feds. I guess when the term is brought to light, most think of a bunch of midwest hillbillies living in doublewides, celebrating the life of Timothy McVeigh and thinking about how much fertilizer they can buy from southern states without tipping off the FBI.
The reality is, it spans all cultures, yes, even blacks can be a sovereign citizen too. Most notable sovereign citizens of the black community would include Spike Lee, who refuses to pay taxes and continues his protest against the government. Sovereign citizens also include those who consider themselves apart of the Moorish/Mourish Science Temple religion (funny people running around wearing goofy shriner hats), the nation of Islam has sovereign citizen leanings, and anyone else who does not recognize the governments authority and only english common law, the power of the sheriff and portions of Uniform Commercial Code. At the end of the day, someone created some sort of money making seminar and for the right price you can become a sovereign citizen too!

This movement is very much alive and trying to grow roots in Maryland. For those very few people around that actually read the newspaper, the Maryland Independent had a disarray placed in that section of the newspaper where people announce they are no longer responsible for their debts - promoting this sort of this. (Forgot the name of that section) You read a huge chunk and have to wait until the next paper comes out to see what it says next.

Back to the thread topic. If you read the article as printed in the Independent, the last sentence applies to a chitload of people in SOMD and not because they claim sovereignty.
