Awwww!
I took this a couple years ago of one of my chicks I call Suzy.
Have you eaten it yet?
do you have problems with foxes, raccoons? How many chickens do you have and how big is your coop? Thank you
Nice chick pic.....now ya need one all grown up...
I did a LOT of reading about keeping chickens safe from predators. I have not lost one yet to a predator, then again my chickens stay well protected and don't get to free range w/o supervision either.
Right now I have 23. Their current home isn't as large as I wish it was but about 200 SF. I used to have a 12' x 56' pen for them.
Yeah I know - I'm working on more space for them ...
if it makes you feel any better, the 2 roosters spend most of their time ON TOP of the hens, so you can minus the separate SF they need from the group
I want some eggs.
(10 * 20) / 23 = 8.6956521739130434782608695652174 sf/chicken
That's not very nice.
Suzy grew up to have a crooked beak, but as long as she has deep enough food she eats well - just can't pick things up like the others with her beak. Weird how they can go from looking fine to 10 days later showing signs of a crooked beak.
You can trim crooked beaks.
