Don't go to the indoor pool on base (Drill Hall)

The water was freezing & after numerous complaints they still wouldn't do anything about it. I'm talking the kids' lips were turning blue & they were crying & shivering.

Yeah

The pool heater at Great Mills is broken too. They plan to shut it down at 75 degrees, it was 76 yesterday. 301-866-6560 is the number. Just called lap swimmers only 11:00 - 3:00.

Any recommendations for swim lessons in St. Mary's County?

I just had my 2 and 5 year old in Great Mills swimming lessons. You have to be in the water with them. The instructor tells you what to do, and you and your child do it together.

The instructor was very nice. I expected more than what was taught, but since I can't compare it to anything, I'll leave it at that.

We took lessons last summer at the indoor pool on base. The water was FREEZING. You had to get in with your child there as well, I didn't have anything to compare it to either but my child was only 6 months old. I only wanted him to get used to the water anyway.

My kids took swim lessons the past couple years at Hickory Hills (off of 235). It's open to anybody. The # there is 301-863-8271.
The instructor is great and has been teaching for years. You should check it out. My kids look forward to it each year and progress so much each year! :yahoo:

Don't know if this is a recent change, but the past few months the drill hall pool has been at 80 degrees, which is plenty comfortable.
One of the guards gives lessons.
PM me if you want the details.

Does anyone know where you can have infant swim lessons she is 8 months old now and a year old by July.
Her other grandparents and us have pools and I think it would be great to put her in classes.

Great Mills Swimming Pool has lessons for 6 months and up, my kids just finished lessons there. I know they started new classes after us. Just google Great Mills Swimming Pool for info.
Calvert Parks & Rec has lessons from 1 year and up, you can go onto the county's website to find out more info.
