Any recommendations for something like this for a toddler? Pickle has a cow when he can't have one of our ipads when we're trying to use it. We have to hide when we want to use one, or he climbs all over us, then kicks and screams when he doesn't get his way. I don't mind the kicking and screaming, but he's so fascinated that I'd like to get him something that he can play games on. We have apps on our ipads that he can play, but we're afraid he's going to break one. He has managed to lock up each of them at least once.

I posted this one previously...my daughter bought it last year (she had just turned 4) and she loves it. It comes pre loaded w/ a lot of the aps kids their age like (wheres my water, angry birds, etc...) its got a sturdy case & screen...cant tell you how many time that thing has been dropped! For $60 its a good alternative to an iPad.

yes! dur I thought I attached the link again  I think it has some like 40 aps already downloaded on it ready to go! You can also make different profiles w/ different passcodes if you have multiple kids/grandkids.

thanks. that might be the better one for us.

We just ordered two of the Kindle Fire HD for Kids (7"). Took two days to get here from Amazon. Lots of good features but mostly for us (with a 6 yo and 3 yo), we can set them up that they can't access games or certain features without completing a certain amount of "educational" items. For example, while they can download Minecraft (or whatever the hot kids game is), they can't play it until they've completed two lessons on the spelling app. And even then, they may be limited in how long they can play Minecraft once accessed. Additionally, we also take lots of roadtrips so this will give them something to do once the normal "I spy" games run their course. We shall see.

I went cheap last year and got the kids Android Jelly Bean tablets. Avoid those. Maybe if you pay out more they are better, but the ones I got only had 1GB of internal storage and the power jack broke off one of them 7 months after we got it.

We actually decided that our kids were too young for it now. Many variables when into that decision.

Good decision. My children grad in 2004 and 2008 and we didn't give them a cell phone until they grad. You could be the first step to not giving your youngsters access to the internet, or relying on a computer instead of their brain, and they will be more socialable in the old fashioned sense of the word. Good on ya for your decision. :yay:
