Take-It-Easy campground in Callaway

Stayed at this place on Saturday night. Asked for a "primitive" tent site and was told they only had sites with electric hookups - ok, not exactly what I wanted but better than nothing. When we got to the "B" row we looked for a decent site. Not many trees at all and the fire pit was shared between 6-8 camp sites. When we did choose a site and searched around we did find "primitive" sites on the right hand side of the "B" row. Right next to the port-o-lets that were strung about the campground.

I was not impressed with the $38 pricetag for the awful campground. Looks like the place used to be good but is now run down. I don't think I would return here if I had better options.

What are good campground options in St Marys or southern Calvert?

What exactly are you looking for, from what I get you wanted something more in the woods. Your first mistake campgrounds are nothing more than a glorified park with a power outlet every 40'. Should have just went out and camped in the woods.

If you have access to the Navy Annexx over in solomons, they don't have power at every site, and have a few more trees than i remember seeing at Take it Easy. Otherwise Point Lookout, Camp Merryelande. You could also go to Chesapeake Beach and camp on the beach.
