Tall, shade tolerant, thick, inexpensive evergreen

What I read about privet said it enjoys full sun or partial shade. Would it tolerate full shade?

We have a neighbor, part of whose Privet hedge only gets sun around noon, and it is as lush and healthy as the rest of the hedge. You can always call somewhere like Wentworths nursery and ask them.

Hey highnote, promised you I'd post a pic of our aucuba. Sorry it is so late in coming. The aucuba is the one on the left. He is shedding his winter leaves right now. His buddy is our hydrangea. It got really big this year. Hope the perspective gives you an idea of how big it is. I got home tonight and Hubby had trimmed about 2 feet off!!! Poor thing looks bald now. Glad I got the pic before the trim. He said it needed a haircut...
