Does anyone know what the law says about target shooting in your own yard. I own 7acres and want to make a small shooting range for my 9mm handgun. Is this legal?

Call DNR

I think you have to be 150ft away from another house and have a decent backstop. Not sure what else. Call DNR they should be able to give you full details!

Thank You I will call DNR this morning and post what they tell me.

I did fire off three rounds lastnight, then went inside and asked my wife how loud it was and she said, What?..LOL

According to MD State Police

Md State Police say it is legal as long as the background is reasonably safe and the closest dwelling is outside of 100 yards.

They did not mention caliber. I guess I will shoot and wait and see like aps45819 said.
