She could just be grateful to be thought of. Not everybody can pool together and give their teacher a vacation. LOL

You're right. But what is the point of having 57 coffee mugs that you never use?

If someone less privileged wants to give the teacher a gift, just put the money that you'd have spent on a mug towards a gift certificate to Staples instead. That gift will certainly be used, and not placed on the next yardsale table.

I got my son's teacher a White House Christmas Ornament. For the two in high school I got a dozen Yankee votive candles and they are distributing them accordingly.

Well, consider this a thank you from your teachers: they deeply appreciate knowing that you support them and they are pushing your kids to do their best.

i was grateful for the many starbucks cards and candles and such. most teachers really do appreciate anything we receive, including hand made cards drawn in pencil (yes, I still get those from my high schoolers) The staples gift cards are a great idea!

I do wish that I didn't get quite so many baked goods/bags of candy. I appreciate the thought but I'm on a diet
